Church selling maize for project

Listen to this article

Mwalawoyera congregation of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) under Blantyre Synod is selling 100 bags of maize worth 50 kilogrammes each to finish its church project.

Building of the church stalled because heavy winds blew the roof in 2012, prompting a re-start of the roofing.

Reverend Michael Ngaiyaye said in an interview this week that members were currently worshipping in a shelter made of grass as they await the projects completion.

He said it had proven difficult to worship under such a structure, especially during rainy season.

“Thus, Christians resolved we sell maize at K6 000 per bag as one way of mobilising resources required for the project. We’re looking for K2.5 million as the total cost of the remaining project. We want to buy iron sheets, timbers, plastering and flooring,” he said.
